Within the pilot project "Flexible waterway Infrastructure" led by Michael Kalb - Technician Waterway Management viadonau - an approach for efficient river management is to be tested. The idea of achieving a local improvement in navigability by selectively positioning loaded gravel barges anchored at the edge of the navigation channel dates back to the 19^th century. viadonau would like to take up this approach again & gain practical experience on its effectiveness according to the current state of the art. Findings and experiences of the pilot project can be used to drive forward measures for the modernization and further development of the Danube waterway nationally & internationally.
